Dating Doctors and Single Dads

I was talking to somebody yesterday, and they were telling me about somebody who had 2 kids "and her fiance had 3 more"...
Ten years ago (or maybe even 5)...I would never have considered going out with a single parent (it's definitely the culture I come from, here things are different)...As a newly single parent, I can't be that hypocritical, so I've opened my mind...But what if I date a single dad that has 3 kids....Imagine that equation...I get exhausted just thinking about it...
Another thing that happened this week, is some new guys in Med School are doing rotations at the hospital I work at...So my friend Lynn automatically started trying to hook me up with one of them (before I had a choice in the matter)...After thinking about it for 2 seconds...I don't want to go out with someone just because they are a doctor...Like I told one of my friends, they probably have egos bigger than mine (and that's pretty big)...
Therefore, I'm having Lynn screen him, if she wants me to go out with him and see if he's worth my time...It probably won't even happen, but those are my friends...They need hobbies other than finding guys for me...I'm not desperate at all, THEY ARE...It reflects negatively on me.
Yesterday, I woke up at 5.30 to go up a mountain here at 6, just a walk......My calves and butt hurt today...I guess that's a good thing...I need to do it more often but for now I can only do it once a week...
Plus, that noon, there was a pot luck at work and I ate sooooo much, I was really sleepy all afternoon (aka don't want to work, just take a nap)..."your eyes are bigger than your stomach" my grandma would say, and she would be right...
Tonight I did the same thing: I made BLT for the first time ever (so easy in the microwave), and I ate 2 just because they were so yummy...It's increased my ego seen that I can make things in the kitchen even when I have such rejection towards it.
My scholarship stuff is going really well...Cross your fingers that I'll be  re starting at the end of August and become a happy nerd again. I just need to get in touch with the Law School I want to go to and ask them which bachelor from the ones the College here offering would make me a more appealing candidate for the school... I'm beside myself w excitement...
I was moving some dirt outside in the front yard (I can't help myself) and I saw a little piece of log. I started taking it out and it kept extending...I think it's the roots of the Elm that's clear at the back yard and it's swallowing my house from the ground...It worries me that there's roots all under my house...
Anyways, I guess I'll go watch Diane Sawyer...
Nite Nite!!!

Today I felt like Martha Stewart

Today I felt like Martha Stewart...cooking up a storm and a prisioner in my own home...
I picked up the girls and took them to the park. I saw someone from the Boys and Girls club, but they didn't recognize me. People that know me without children don't recognize me when I have them and people that know me with children can't recognize me without them.
I met a mommy w her 3 children, her husband is a pastor and just moved her from an 85,000 people city (I didn't metioned I moved from a 13,000,000 people one)...all I could blurt when she told me which church he was preaching at was "I went to a funeral there, it's a gorgeous building"...Good Job Me!!!
We came home and I made the slim version of strawberry shortcake: spongy store bought thing remember I'm foreign), sliced strawberries (not simmered in sugar), and (key thing) instead of whipped cream, sour cream mixed w sugar (It's supposed to be sweetener but I don't want to cut too many calories).
We also  had the yummy leftovers of the food I made last night: hamburger meat, onion, shredded fiesta blend cheese, eggs and mixed veggies...It didn't look good but it was delicious. Kyrsten and Olivia agreed. I've come  to terms w the fact that eventhough every now and then I can make things that taste good....my food doesn't look good...But I can live with that.
At a point today I was so "done" with my children (aka 0% patience left), that I told them "Mommy is going to take a shower by herself, do not open the door, mommy will be out". And I took a 15 min shower. Not very safe, but a lot safer than Mommy staying in the living room...
Olivia fell asleep pretty early so I assume she'll be up early tomorrow too...yey!!!!
I'm excited for the weekend, maybe I can go to te river w the girls, to the sand bank...
Michael said he'd come tomorrow finish some projects...Let's hope he does...I've been working on cleaning up the garage and I really want him to throw away as much as possible.
Another thing...My lunch workouts are going pretty well, today I sped in the ellyptical for 10 minutes...Felt good...I din't know if my body is any less flabby but psychologically I feel better..plus, if I can manage to get tan I will look slimmer and toner and not need to excercise or lose weight (good strategy, huh?)...
Ok, enough blabbling.
Have a fabulous weekend!!!

Day 1

In exactly a month I am going to Argentina so I started a diet today. I was running pretty low on food so I thought today was the perfect day to get healthy food. Eventhought I wanted to get all kinds of chocolatly stuff, I didnt. Maybe that's why, for the first time ever, I felt like I got a lot of food for the money. I got a lot of ready to go things, that way I'll want to eat them because there's not much I have to do...That's what I love about the United States of America...it has everything for a lazy woman like me to cook decent meals without having to do too much. My cooking involves opening cans and putting things in the microwave...and in this country, there's so much variety of frozen stuff, sliced stuff, ready to eat stuff...It's wonderful!!!!
When I got back I put everything away and I folded all the walmart bags...re organized the fridge (not that there was much in there)...and folded and put away all the laundry and unloaded the dishwasher...
First meal was lean hot pockets (yes, not very good but I was on a rush), and for dessert my light version of strawberry shortcake (the only change is that instead of whipped cream I mix light sour cream w sweetener or even sugar is healthier). I wasnt going to but I took a well deserved nap!!!
We made a berry shake and for dinner chicken patty sadwiches which is not the healthiest but I made them in multigrain very thin breads (I dont know what those are called), tomatoes, fiesta blend cheese and lettuce served w raw snowpeas on the side...yummy!!!
This is my biggest concern about dieting: kids left overs....I am like a vacuum...getting everything that everyone leave so as not to throw away food. Because people are dying of hunger but NOT ME!!! Luckily the girls ate most of their sadwiches today. Although, I dont think they understand the concept of sandwich...the took it all apart and ate it...Oh well, as long as they eat it...I guess we wont be attending the royal wedding then...
